Summer Lectures and Workshops

KCLS Lectures
All KCLS programs are free to the public. Come early for a good seat. For the art workshops, you will need to register with the library as each workshop can accomodate only 12 people. For more info on KCLS programs, please visit www.kcls.org

Quilters and Their Stories
Quilters are not only creative and passionate about their art, but they also are amazingly diversified in their approach to quilting. "Celebrity" quilters such as Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, and Marie Osborne will be presented along with a variety of fabulous quilt artists such as Jane Burch Cochran, Pam RuBert, Jane Sassman, Michael Cummings, Carol Taylor, Noriko Endo and many others. At the end of the program Susan will preview the wide range of "quilt novels", a growing genre in contemporary fiction. Altered Books
Starting with a used hardback book of your choosing, learn how to create an altered book. Techniques will be shown for removing and adding pages, creating fold-out pages, sewn and glazed pages, tags and more. All other supplies are provided. Please call your library to register.
